16 life lessons you need to know in London

The city of London can be a scary, unique and confusing place to live at times, its think of number one mentality can be hard to adjust too especially if a quiet life is what you are familiar with. These are just some of the characteristics that often put people off the beauty this city actually has to offer. To survive this concrete jungle, you have to take on the London town mentality, because trust me if you don’t then you will learn the hard way.

1. Being a little rude and cold can get you a long way when it comes to the underground.

2. Always and I mean always stand to the right side when on an escalator.

3. You can always walk faster, talk faster and even type faster … so just live faster basically.

4. Saving money is a distant memory. Don’t worry we are all in the same boat.

5. Bottomless brunch is like a hobby.

6. South London boroughs are much more than what people associated them with. They are filled with amazing and quirky cafes, bars, art galleries and so much more.

7. No vehicle will stop or wait for you to cross. Trust me when I say always wait for that red light and cross within the countdown.

8. Sun being out in London is like Christmas day. The sunglasses go on and everyone’s main focus is the pub. The parks and beer gardens are always full and London just seems happier. It is definitely my favourite time of year in the city.

9. Gently shoving people and pushing them is seen as normal behaviour.

10. You will start to learn that not everyone knows how to say please, excuse me or thank you in this city. This one still angers me.

11. Nobody ever carries cash and even if they do its not a lot.

12. Swiping on those dating apps is the best and most effective way of meeting a potential partner. London is so busy that it is hard to meet someone the old fashioned way. Tinder will be your new best friend.

13. Feeling exhausted all the time becomes normal.

14. If ever in doubt Weatherspoon’s is the shout.

15. Tube maps and lines are not as scary as you think. You will get used to them, I promise you.

16. Yes, London is a big city but unfortunately running into your ex or a bad tinder date can still happen.
