Within this essay, I consider Disney's portrayal of gender over time by examining the role of the Disney princesses since the arrival of Snow White in 1935. Popular opinion on gender roles has changed massively over this nearly 80-year period.

Within this essay, I explore how the last decade has seen rapid societal change fuelled by unprecedented advances and understanding of audiences. Today, thanks to ever-developing technology we are able to access multiple sources of entertainment and information whenever and wherever we want.

 

An audience is no longer a target group but an individual with the ability to interact and influence the very material it is consuming.
